<image:caption>How We Move Effects What We Perceive Is Possible For Us To Do I work with the sensory systems through movement to create new opportunities for how the body self organizes to achieve goals. This creates new pathways and new abilities for how we perceive and interact in the world. In this style of teaching change occurs in both the sensory and motor systems together. <image:caption>Massage and fascial work diminish pain by reducing muscle spasms, opening up restrictions, and restoring the natural movement to the affected area. Often the place that hurts is the one part of the body that is still free to move. It’s compensating, doing more than it’s job, and you are feeling it. Opening up what is above and below it is the first step in returning function. Pushing on what hurts feels good, can even help, but is rarely the solution. Once we are tight, it is difficult to turn it around on our own. <image:title>Traumatic Brain Injury - Confusing Signals I spent a long time exploring how vision and posture stabilize each other. In my model each of these systems orients to opposing directions. The horizon, or transverse in vision, and the vertical, or gravity in movement. There are so many layers of complexity that build off of this that gives us individuality, uniqueness, and diversity. When dysfunction happens, it is disorienting, painful, and the brain starts shutting down and finding ways to compensate. This work is looking for ways to open back up and create new pathways of function.</image:title>

      <image:title>Traumatic Brain Injury - How I Can Help</image:title>
<image:caption>It is challenging to relearn what is meant to be automatic. And even more challenging when pain and discomfort are the motivation. To help someone afflicted with TBI, I have two levels of understanding. One is at the micro-level, that of glial cells and the nerve tracts through craniosacral therapy. The second is at the macro-level, of how the body self-organizes at the level of our intentions. My questions are quite different from traditional medicine. I was asked in College to find the lawful principles for how we perceive and know the world. I developed a wholistic approach to sensory motor integration based on natural laws. My techniques are unique and can support you with one more piece the puzzle.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Massage for Pain Are you frustrated with short term solutions? Right back where you started hours later? Tightness in the body is more complicated than a muscle spasm nagging at you. Poor habits, recurrent stressors, bracing, past injuries- both physical and emotional, effect optimal function. Our bodies are adaptive, it’s both a gift and a mess. As body workers we focus on the unseen layers of adaptation held in the tissue to assist you in recovery. My role is to identify stress patterns and bring your awareness to them to resolve. Working together with the body we can find and release the underlying cause of chronic discomfort. Often massage is not the right modality as massage gives relief without changing the pattern.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Newborns Compression and squeezing through the birth canal, or the sudden pressure change of a cesarean birth can have lasting effects on the nervous system. Craniosacral therapy with newborns supports a gentle beautiful natural unwinding of the birth process. CST helps gets all the systems working properly — eating, pooping, sleeping. What are you noticing with your infant; colic, fussiness, stiffness, restlessness? Tongue and lip tie are common occurrences sometimes remedied by the clipping of the frenulum. After this procedure, or in cases that are less severe, infants benefit from CST as we are able to release the tongue, lip and cheek muscles to ease the tightness in the mouth to better coordinate nursing. Torticollis, which is when the head only turns easily to one side, is also a common with newborns. This is often identified by moms who notice the difference of ease on one side when breastfeeding. Often while freeing up the neck I find additional restrictions down the body. Releasing these frees up the whole body’s desire to roll and twist.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Home - CranioSacral Therapy</image:title>
<image:caption>Craniosacral therapy is a gentle hands on therapy developed by osteopaths in the 1970’s from the idea that the 22 bones of the skull are not fused but have subtle movement. Techniques were developed to create easier passage of the nerves through the bones to optimize function. An eye turn for example, is often the result of a nerve being compressed in its travels from the brain stem up through the sphenoid bone to the eye. This approach trusts in the body’s innate ability to heal itself and our ability to identify restrictions. By creating space for the nerve, the body takes over and knows exactly what to do to function properly. This concept is applied throughout the body, effecting endless opportunities for change. Clients often come for support through personal development (to change nervous system response to stress, trauma) to address chronic pain, or who have a challenge that need a whole body approach to resolve.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Massage for Pain Are you frustrated with short term solutions? Tired of being right back where you started hours later? Wish you could fix the root of the problem? Tightness in the body is more complicated than the nag of a muscle spasm. Poor habits, recurrent stressors, bracing, past injuries- both physical and emotional-can all detract from the body’s optimal function. Our bodies are adaptive- both a gift and a challenge. As body workers, we assist your recovery by focusing on the unseen layers of adaptation held in the tissue. My work combines massage, myofascial techniques, re alignment of posture, and dialoguing, to break through your muscles’ chronic tightness. I can support you in your process to attain changes in your body to help optimize your lifestyle.</image:caption>

      <image:title>NotHome - Kids In Touch</image:title>
<image:caption>Young athletes are rarely taught to listen to and take responsibility for their bodies. Oftentimes, a child will brush off an injury to get back into the game. The truth is, this resilience is a coping mechanism: it is how the body re-organizes to work around a limitation. If not addressed, over time these injuries will get buried under future accidents and eventually shut down range of motion and function in the afflicted area. Each layer of adaptation changes the number and quality of options for how the body functions. Concussions concern parents and athletes alike. In addition to the resolving structural restrictions, the latest teaching in the craniosacral field includes how to work with the glial cells of the brain, which are responsible for neurons’ quality of function. Anxiety is found across the board with kids 2-22. In many cases, stress results from not being able to discern one’s own feelings from those around them; often stemming from the child modeling one of their parents or siblings. The body has its own truth that that isn’t neutralized by the mind. I create a safe, stable container for their body to share its truth, and empower your child to set clear boundaries and let go of old ways of doing things. We do this through body work, not talk therapy. The body has its own way of communicating.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Our nervous system comprises what we perceive, think, feel, and how we act. The main goal of craniosacral therapy is to bring balance and optimal function to the nervous system. Osteopaths discovered that rather than being fused, the skull’s twenty-two bones have subtle movement. Any restriction to the movement of the bones, which nerves pass through, can affect nerve function. Craniosacral therapy works to identify both restrictions, and the origin of those restrictions, in order to release the entire strain pattern effecting the region. The generates space and flexibility for the nervous system to improve in function.</image:caption>

Techniques often use the foundation of one system to teach the other…</image:caption>

It was developed by Osteopaths who discovered the 22 bones of the scull are not fused, but have subtle movement. Nerves travel through little holes in the bones and fascia. Any compression or restriction of the nerves passing through the fascia and bones can affect how the nervous system functions. Once we identify restrictions we focus on resolving the entire strain pattern that is holding in this position. There is a lot more depth to this modality, this is just the beginning.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Craniosacral therapy with newborns supports a gentle beautiful natural unwinding of the birth process. Compression and squeezing through the birth canal, or the sudden pressure change of a cesarean birth can have lasting effects on the nervous system. CST aligns the body structurally and gets all the systems working properly — eating, pooping, sleeping. Tongue and lip tie is a common problem sometimes remedied by the clipping of the frenulum. After this procedure, or in cases that are less severe, infants benefit from CST as we help the super tight tongue and cheek muscles release to ease the tightness in the mouth to better coordinate nursing. Torticollis, which is when the head only turns easily to one side, is a common occurrence in newborns. This is easily identified for moms who are breastfeeding when changing sides. Often after freeing up the neck there will also be restrictions down the body. Releasing these frees up the whole body’s desire to roll and twist. What are you noticing with your baby; colic, fussiness, stiffness, restlessness? Kids of all ages are struggling with anxiety. There are a lot of stressors in our world. Stress often comes from not being able to discern our own feelings from those around us and taking in the fear and worry of others without even knowing it. Fear often creates a nervous system response of hyper vigilance. This can interfere with sleep, digestion, concentration, socialization, self worth and more. I have strategies for kids as young as 3 years old.</image:caption>
